Stone Brewery Enjoy By 4/20 IPA

Stone is not a brewery that messes around with their beer and it is not a brewery that doesn’t know what they are worth. If you have ever had Arrogant Bastard, you know what I’m talking about. Stone does a series called “Enjoy By” in hopes that you will get the beer and drink it as soon as you can to ensure its freshness within the 35 days that it is distributed. I recently got my hands on their Enjoy By 4/20 IPA and I suggest that if you can, you do the same as well.
First Impression: With large font telling you when you need to drink this beer by, my first impression was, “oh shit, I gotta drink this ASAP.” I have always liked Stone’s labels; they’re always straight to the point with no messing around. Plus the date is 4/20, need I say more?
Pour: A pretty clear orange pour, like a typical IPA with a white head that follows. You can definitely smell the citrus and floral hops.
Taste: Floral and citrus fills the taste of this beer. With a high ABV, I expected more bitterness and heaviness but it is a light beer that hides the alcohol pretty well. It’s a really well balanced double IPA.
Overall, it’s a good double IPA. Compared to the last Enjoy By, this one is better and I will continue to try these beers but I won’t go searching for them.
